Description:
Social Media/Communications Specialist
Our client is a not-for-profit organization, who is solidly funded and does not rely on fundraising or government grants. There is an immediate opening for a Social Media and Print Communications Specialist. This is a permanent, full time position, based in Victoria.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Develop a communication plan that integrates social media and printed materials, including writing/producing a quarterly newsletter. Create a monthly communications calendar
- Monitor and post events, meetings, etc on social media accounts including, public and private Facebook pages, and Instagram
- Media Monitoring report (monthly media monitoring report of relevant news related to key word searches)
- Develop scripts, record, edit and post short videos on relevant topics
- Attend Various Committee meetings including a monthly creative brief with Marketing Team (follow-up with written report to Manager)
- Ensure that all communications are consistently branded, with consistent key messages
- Prepare presentation materials for stakeholder meetings using Microsoft office programs
- Participate in communications strategy meetings with PR consultants and management
- Provide culturally sensitive lens to all communications materials, and activities
- Monthly Communications Report to Manager
Education and Experience
- 2 years post-secondary school in Communications
- 2 years experience writing and editing
- 2 years maintaining and responding to social media posts: including face book group and Instagram
- Experience with Face Book- Live and Simple Podcasts in a professional environment
- 2 years experience creating PowerPoint presentations
- 2 years experience public speaking
- Familiarity using Dropbox, Canva, Facebook live, podcast
- Familiar with Microsoft office suite (PowerPoint, excel, word, outlook)
- Strong writing, reading, copy-editing skills
- Valid Driver’s license and vehicle (some local travel required)
