The FMB is a non-profit organization created by and for First Nations under the First Nations Fiscal Management Act (FMA). We set finance and governance standards and provide certification services to support First Nation governments achieve their community and economic goals.
The FMB's certifications give your members and other stakeholders confidence that your Nation is well-run, transparent and accountable. Our certifications are based on international finance and governance standards and adapted to meet the needs of First Nations governments.
First Nations governments who choose to work with the FMB start first with setting out the broad areas of good governance and finance practices in a law, which is called the Financial Administration Law.
The FMB provides a full suite of finance and governance tools, templates and workshops to First Nations governments seeking to build their capacity and bring their law to life.
